I got the impression that any driver would be in control, just keep power down.
Gotta send the Fane back this week, I'll try a 186 for fun.
Nick
It just is.

My GUESS at hornresp inputs:

Note Le is unknown - I believe this can make a fair bit of difference in a tapped horn.

Nice design Stipe! Like the handle positioning. I've been wanting to do something like this in a 12" version but mine would sacrifice some max output in favour of a little low extension.

This cab seems to have excellent excursion control above 45Hz. I know it's weird but I've got a suspicion that high excursion control at tuning frequency might be what killed my Ciare 12SW (end of coil sitting outside the gap at high power so not much movement to allow cooling). I wonder whether underhung coils (XBL^2?) would get the most from tapped horns?

im looking at a very high excursion car audio driver for this exact reason.  not underhung, but a 15mm top plate should help get some more heat away.

Look a bit like this, did it?

" I wonder whether underhung coils (XBL^2?) would get the most from tapped horns?"

Run the numbers and see.

5" coil, 20mm underhung x-max.
