Sorry I only just saw this thread. I have built 4 of these cabs two 18's and two 15's. The only difference with the 18's is that they are slightly louder than the 15's. (only very slightly).

I used kappa 15LFA's and Delta pro 18a's. The cab is a really great design and easy to build. See my build pics on Freespeakers.com.

I am going to build more and use PD15SB40's as my mid tops use PDN12MH25's and they sound amazing.

If you use quality drivers you will hear and feel notes that you have never heard or felt before.

Build them, you won't be sorry.

Yeah Login4. I think Cubo has come up with a really good all round design because the cab can work with so many different drivers and because of it's size it really is handy. I do think that neo drivers would benifit the weight when they are made from Birch ply. My back is'nt what it used to be.

You really would not beleive the sound that comes from one cab. I have a pair of 186's loaded with eminence Omega 18's and because the cubo's go lower they work realy well in pairs under my smt212's. The 186's do play higher and that is their advantage but, I think they are not as loud as a pair of cubo's? I would love to have 4 or 6 Cubo's a side just to see how loud they would go?

Hi Johnny, If you email Cubo with the driver details he can give you more info. I think he posts plots also, check on FSP.

He is really helpful and may give you the input data?

Hi Johnny,
I would say the cab weighs around 25Kg empty with 15mm birch ply it may actually be lighter. I did not weigh the cabs when I built them. They were 11 layer ply and it was BBB grade. This means that one side is near perfect and the other side may have some knots and some imperfections. (Just in case you did not know about ply grades, B is best.)

I am sure the supplier of the timber would be able to find out the weight of an 8 x 4 sheet for you. It was funny when I was checking my local merchants for Ply one of the young girls I spoke to was very helpful I asked the Origin of their stock as the price was around £23.00 + Vat a sheet. I said "It will be cheap Chinese" and she replied "No, Far Eastern" I burst out laughing and said thanks anyway. I think I paid around £36.00 + Vat for Birch?

If your drivers have a large Xmax and a high BL then the cubo 15 extended will be probably what you need. Cubo will keep you right about the length of the extended panel.

If you need some more info PM me?

You will find the Cubo 12 here: http://www.freespeakerplans.com/cubo-12.html

Johnny, I would say that you could put 2 Cubo 15's or 18's to 2 of your 218's and you would probably find that you would feel the bass at least twice as far away. I think Cubo says that a single Cubo15 will out perform a good quality BR18 buy at least 1.5 times. And as far as I can hear and feel they do. I would say that 15's are slightly more sensative than the 18's.

Hope you build them?Wink
