friend lending me this Aimeek ca80. Apparently 6k. It has 28 output devices per channel and weighs in at 42kilo. I'm using it while my macro tech 5002 goes in for repair. Be interesting to see how it compares. I'll be hanging 2 drivers a side, so 4r. Spec says 2.4k @4r per channel. Will be reggae bass 😉

Didn't disappoint, bit of a beast. Not completely used in anger, but happy with performance at 4r on a channel. Absolutely no discernible heat.

Just got these beauties in for repair/servicing:- Funnily enough, one channel on each dead... Hopefully nothing too serious, but one had something that would be for the "Spot the deliberate mistake" thread:- We all know the pressure when the Show Must Get Going and something isn't working - but really, to risk destroying the amp - or starting a fire... |

Crown DC300A Series II. Well used. Original components, Still running well after all these years. Another one of Crowns Gerald Stanleys designs. Amazing clever early design. Topology is the patented class AB+B. The outputs carry no bias. Outputs are lowish bandidtrh but durable. The drivers run in class AB. The outputs act as "boosters" in Class B over a certain wattage. Very low THD, low DC offset and good power down to DC. THD at 1Khz into 8 ohm load just before IOC lights show. Output just before IOC lights show into a 8ohm load

Now imagine those days when you had to populate the board without component markings printed on PCB. Pain in da arse !

I doubt they'd be hand built, the auto insertion machine would know where everything went!

DMZ. "The bass was intense. Girls were literally running up to stand next to the subs"
