And now for the one million dollar question.. where originated the design :)
regarding the design flaw; it will go nicely with my other amps then.. Dynacord PAA's. in which the designers had the radical idea to let air flow from side to side....

From memory the Dynacord PAA range would draw cold air in at the front and out through the sides... this isn't that uncommon.... Crest used to do this on amongst others the LA, V and VS ranges. Edited by APW - 23 February 2021 at 1:31pm |

It's a silly design for a 'pro' amp that's more than likely going to live in a rack IMO, they could've just turned the PCB by 90 degrees and mounted the fan in the front or rear panel (or both!)...? Edit; The Behringer km750 and T Amp e400 appear to use a very similar design; Edited by njw - 23 February 2021 at 6:48pm |

" they could've just turned the PCB by 90 degrees and mounted the fan in the front or rear panel (or both!)...?" Yup. And do those also have slots in the top plate? Or do they rely on air flow from the sides? In any case - a really stupid design. Someone is always going to put something on top of the amp and block the flow, never mind the obvious danger from spilt liquids, etc. The last amp I'd stick in a bar.... |

8 different brands selling an OEM design, with 8 different specifications, and all of them rather optimistic, with the devine pricey compared to other ones .. the wonderfull world of low-end gear always is interesting :)

Yes,agreed, very odd, given there would have been no additional cost in turning the pcb 90 degrees. Dare were obviously aware of the overheating issue in fitting two fans to their version. And here it is yet again, a Biema W220 this time. Edited by jbl_man - 24 February 2021 at 12:32pm |

Pretty sure about 10-12 years ago I had a look at a Prolight Warrior DA-300 amp that had a very similar layout to this.
I remember thinking that the cooling set up dosen't really lend itself to rack mounting. |

I think this thread has gone full circle! Look at the third post on page 1! 238 pages, that’s pretty good!

This thread should now be more stable with less distortion with the addition of the feeback loop to page 1, nice work😛
