Hey guys, just a quick question.
I've been offered a pair of Eminence ME15 3008 Bass Drivers and I've been told that their frequency response is 35Hz to 250Hz and that they run at 600W RMS @ 8ohms which would be perfect for my newly built scoop bins.

I've tried looking them up on google but I can't seem to find much on them and I'd really appreciate if anyone on here, if at all possible would be able to confirm their frequency response and power output, also if they're a decent driver at all.

Cheers in advance!

Got one of these kicking around myself, I think its the older version of the kappa pro, I don't think they're 600w rms though, I'm pretty sure the '300' in ME15-3008 refers to its power handling, that said, I had it running in one of my HDs for a while and it coped fine, even with a small gaffa-taped hole in the cone.

Spotted this on the hunt for some info re the ME 3008 drivers, so sorry for the hijack..

Ive got some CVA copies of the martin em251 bins. ( like this  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Martin-Audio-EM251-dual-15-sub-bass-speakers-pair-Fabulous-sound-top-quality-/380456866409?pt=UK_ConElec_SpeakersPASystems_RL&hash=item5894ff1269 )

I have 5 of them, 4 i use all the time the other i have been using for testing other drivers in that cab. The best sounding drivers ive heard in the cabs were the ME3008 that CVA fitted, produced a nice warm bass & good amounts of SPL. I found them as good as the martin drivers when i tried them, if anything slightly warmer sounding.. I was shocked & still dont believe a cheap old 300w eminence driver beats all the others i have tried ( Beyma G40, Fane 15b / 15xb, JBL 2226 + a few other random units) I have played with the port lengths to tune the box to various drive units, however could never get a good balance of low bass & spl..

I was wondering if any of the SP members have had these bins & used different / better performing drive units ? If so what have you used ?  I would of thought the martin drive units would of wiped the floor of the ME units, esp with the price of them.. however to me there was very little difference, hence why cva loaded them with the ME3008  ' disco baskets' i suppose

Also, as the ME3008 is old, i cant find much data, so ive had to go on the thiele small parameters of the kappa drive unit which i would of thought is slightly different to the me3008, so any evaluation i do on paper needs to be taken with a pinch of salt

The reason for doing this is, rather than get/build more bins the same, i would like to get a bit more SPL from my current 4 i have. Also being such bulky bins, 6 or 8 of them would not fit into the vans i use..

They are great bins as they are, sound sweet & are very efficient compared to other bins i have. Cab design is good, & they are built like a tank.. Just keep thinking i must be able to gain another few db with the right drive units, and also have a bit of headroom with the power, often needed with modern bass line music

Any thoughts & comments are appreciated.

Normally acorrding to the Eminence ME15 3008 n0 driver is the model, size, watt , ohm so i does look like 15" 300w 8ohm..not sure about the FR sometimes get lost with older models.

i know loads of people will knock Eminence all the time.but ive driven hard a pair a delta's 15" over the years and still working fine today..

The Eminence ME15-3008 is the for-runner of the Kappa LF15 600watt current model, although as the model number implies is 15 inch 300 Watts @ 8ohms but will easily peak at 600watts excellent speaker and still worth buying if you see one up for sale, I have used one of these Drivers in a Peavey 115 BW Cab for a few years and playing Double Bass you need that Low Bottom End sound, and the ME15-3008 that I use has always performed well and sounds great and I would recommend this driver and the later model Kappa 15LF or Delta 15 LF to anyone superb quality and rugged.
