Some of us were using the internet way back in the early 90's (USENET/JANET) to share files/information before the web came into existence.

As long as there is an internet, nothing can stop the file/information sharing between determined users. Just means, back in the day geeks did it for fun, but now criminals will pay geeks for their expertise.

Yup. Come on then - who remembers FIDOnet ? :-) I started using that with a 1200/75 modem :-)
It was a big deal to download a file of 10k or more .... had to shout out around the house "no-one pick the phone up for the next half-hour please !! ".

Beginning of the end my arse. They made a couple of very silly mistakes, namely hosting servers in the US and carrying on a Goodfella's style of living.

As people have said you still have many file hosting sites, torrents, newsgroups, IRC, P2P applications, etc. If all else fails then you have sneakernets and darknets. People will just come up with more inventive ways to disguise and route traffic.

Kimble doesn't deserve the court case for running megapload.com but he is a renowned bullshit artist and general twat. In the article below he claims he invented the 'blue box' which is nonsense, as that was around long before he was born.

Hes a good venture capitalist though, most likely due to his ability to talk crap and make people believe it.
