Mate has Scoop Systems here in UK & Jamaica.

Every time he goes back to JA to play, he smashes up all the sounds he play's against, and people can't believe how heavy he sounds. LOL

Jamaica is the origin of reggae sound systems, so suprising they don't use scoops anymore.

May be due to Dancehall being more popular than heavy dub.

Whatever the reason, would be more interested in the reasons for the shift, as opposed to what everyone uses.

Would be nice to know why the mass change , especially to such a weak bin.

Possible reasons:

The new ones are easier to build.

They just don't know that scoops would be better.

The days of scoops in Jamaica is over.

People believe that If your sound doesnt look like StoneLove people wont take your sound seriously.

Its silly, i was there 6 months ago and i was shocked by every double modified t-18 sound system i heard. The boxes are tuned to drop to 50hz!

Its funny because the best sound system in Jamaica is Bass Odyssey and they use some weird scoop things on their main sound and big double reflexes on the other one.

I'll upload some pictures that i have collected

Maybe top of the line Fane, PD, Void are just too expensive to import, so they settle for 60hz cabs which cheapy drivers can work in.

Are there any Dub sound systems in Jamaica?

Sure they wouldn't be using double T18s. LOL

Dancehall is no longer my thing, So I guess next trip to JA will be mostly visiting relatives, going out around Mo'bay, & eating. LOL

Perhaps the people in JA want to listen to the music, rather than having to run away from it?
It just is.

You're not gonna listen to 40hz bass line, through 60hz boxes.
Especially outside.LOL

Trev nailed it. In UK, we have access to the best 18" drivers available for horn loading/Scoops.

So cabs are designed to make the most of them. The End.

Funny, in the rest of the Caribean, There are Superscoopers/HOGs with V18-1000, or copies of Martin/EAW/Nexo etc..
