What I love about the amps is the dual power supply each with its own power cable. Perfect for venues with standard wall sockets. Thanks again Muckerbarnes for building these beauties.

I beleive Narrinder has some Nivitz? They sound so much deeper on sub than a Crown for example.

There are some in the USA, Singapore, Dubai etc still going. The one I have shown recently in pics with Billy dawg come back here in March 2012 after some 20 years hard labour. A few FET's and it went back to the installation it came from. It was fitted there to see how reliable it would be............... Hence like others... no labels or badges.

Yes Mucker I have 3 of the larger ones and the smaller one which is beast in its own right. These weigh a ton and are built like tanks. I have hung a g sub a side on these the result was serious. The vlf are seismic,no joke. Comparing it head on with my brothers EV p3000 ,as we know has conservative power specs , it just sounded heavier without breaking a sweat. Just so glad I got these when they came up for sale.

They are 2x 750 and 2x 1400. Made as one off's for a system. This would of been with a dedicated crossover.

Again both are very early units and would of been part of a system along with subs, mid/hi and a crossover. The sub will be very heavy. Circa 35Kg.

In the absense of nylon 66 to mount the 'live' heavy heatsinks hardwood was used. This was common in the '70's. Wood is a great insulator at these voltages and strong for the weight applied.

I should re-iterate; there are no 4K amps. There never was. You may wish to load at 2 ohms. You may get away with it. The original design ideas were 4ohms and very heavy duty for sub, hence mass devices. The very original engineering notes were for a 1K amp, which very quickly became 1200, then 1400.
close to 50kg Chris's big boys were

You could not build those in the late '70's Jayson. The Hitachi o/p FETs did not have high enough voltage ratings then.

I built the first of these in 1990 era. At first with later Hitachi FETs, then with Semi Lab dual die FETs as above. They were based on a Hitachi derrived layout that I used in the early 80's, then modified and upgraded. Power op's of over 1K/ch would have been very rare early 80's.

They were conceived to drive our sub systems at first, then later the whole rig with a xover/EQ/controller I designed and built for the system. Later ones had a posh regulated pcb and a weird heat exchanger that I made a 'plug' for. The heat exchangers were cast locally. Then they were copied............. and had a different logo on the pcb. Hence the change from me.

I beleive Narrinder has some. Nivitz? They sound so much deeper on sub than a Crown for example.

Haa, it was a joke, I was supposed to put of the 1970's on the end...
Just curious, would the output devices be the same as in the old ppx's I'm not well versed on hitachi devices, only they sound nice.
