Few years ago, I also noticed the T/S for these would in theory, make it perfect for a certain Scoop. I got a driver for test, but unfortunately, it had a manufacturing fault, and I "think", the terminals needed wire soldering on. This unfortunately put me off it.. But I should really try it again, as I'm liking the 4.5"VC.. |

What keeps me off RCF is the fact that they dont provide EU origin documentation for their drivers anymore. I am not supporting that. If i had to pay premium price for made in china drivers, i might well get them from the chinese them self for a fraction of the price.

Other thing i would comment on is that not many amps out there u less you wanna spend atleast 2-3k on that will give them rcf headroom!

Ok, I ordered RCF LG18G401 driver because got it for really nice price.
Fs 33Hz Qts 0.29 Qes 0.30 Vas 268L BL 24.6 EBP 110 Xmax 8.5mm (max. cone movement 50mm) So according to parameters, should be nice lowish budget driver for hogscoop I think.. but let's see how it really performs then :) |

I used FASTONS
6-7weeks for kits is too long, but bluearan takes more like 2-3 months to get it, the problem is that the distributor don't prioritize kits |

8 weeks is more or lees a normal delivery time from most of the manufacturers. No one keeps any stock, everything is built per order.
Stock is held at distributors, not the manufacturer.

Not true, you can get most regular fane / pd kits at bluearan, also I can get 18sound & b&c kits straight from stock, even the most "normal" rcf LF18X401 takes ages to get a kit for

Hi all,
Any more feedback on the RCF Driver tests? What would be the correct Scoop Chamber size for the LF451 "18? Would these drivers work best in small, medium or a large chamber Scoop? Thanks Wini

Recone kits are a very difficult product to manage stock on. It may seem 'simple' from the outside, but perhaps if you see it from our point of view, it will help you understand stock 'issues'
1. Drivers sell regularly, for example popular drivers (particularly 18") we can often predict sales, and certain models we will sell 10-30 pcs per month. So we aim to maintain 20pcs on the shelf, and as soon as stock dips, we re-order - so the 6-8 week build time isn't a problem as we always have stock, and we always have more on order ready to top up stock in the future. It takes a little planning, but this works fine 90-95% of the time. 2. Recone kits take up as much space as drivers, yet are lower value and lower profit. Purely from a commercial point of view, it's hard to justify stocking recone kits over drivers, so drivers will almost always come first. 3. As a distributor, we are expected to keep spares, so we do our best to analyse sales patterns, and hold spares accordingly. Certain diaphragms sell regularly, so we always stock them. 4. Often when people blow driver, they blow several at once. Its not uncommon for someone to buy 4,6 or 8 recons kits at a time for 18" drivers, which can easily wipe out our stock, and then requires 6-8 weeks to replenish. 5. People don't generally buy recone kits regularly, we can have 4 recone kits on the shelf for 12 months, and then sell all 4 in one day, and then none for 12 months again. Its virtually impossible to predict requirements on recone kits as they are almost random. 6. For brands we distribute, we aim to hold stock of recone kits to support popular models. A top selling driver will mean there are lots in use, and the more there are in use, the more likely some will be blown at some point. 7. We don't usually stock recone kits for lower value drivers, reality is its often not financially viable to recone a cheap driver, and the recone costs can be almost as much as a new driver. On cheap drivers you are just recycling a bit of steel and a magnet, it doesn't have high value. 8. Some drivers simply don't blow very often. Different people and different markets favour different drivers. People that push their drivers hard seem to favour certain brands/models, and these are the ones that get asked for a lot. Our focus will obviously be to stock recone kits for models that blow often, and there is not point stocking a recone kit for a driver that we have never had any demand for as nobody has blown one. |

Nothing new to report atm. Going to strap the rcf's on a bigger amp over next couple weeks. I had 4 across a 5k monoblock and could tell the drivers still had a way to go. Im going to strap two across an inf8mk2 on 4ohm bridge to give the speakers some headroom.
