Hey im a newbie on the speaker plans site...

I have a pair of eminence omega pro 18a's laying around...
Currently there in a Reflex box - however i have 4 x 12" folded horns.
I cannot for obvious reasons use the two boxes together,

What i'm asking is how would my drivers perform in a 186 Horn?
is it worth my time building/buying the cab's ?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

So I am planning to build some 186s with Faital Pro W18N8-1000s.  The BL is just shy of 28, at 27.6, but it seems that when I simulate in Hornresp, that the driver will behave almost identically in either the 1850 or 186 horn.  Seems like there is xmax trouble at about 550watts, unless I up the compression ratio (cut a smaller baffle hole) to about 3:1, and then I lose some low extension but can push with 850 watts, and get more than 140dbs with four.  Any thoughts?

sounds good mate, you'll have to keep us posted on how it go's.

think i decided to go for the pd 186 in mine now, purely because some people ill be putting in with got 186 in their bins, so it'll all match up when it used together, and none of the drivers will work against one another.

if it wasn't for that probably would have looked for a second hand pd188 to try in one!! Smile

Not yet. I do have all intentions of building some in the near future mind you. I also do have quite a bit of drivers to compare in them. Of course I will share my findings. Hoping to try modding the cab a bit too.

have you looked at the pd 188 ebp of 133.6 and bl of 26.59?? i am wondering how they would perform in 1850/186 cab??
there is probably a good reason (which i havent herd about!!) as to why they are not mentioned?? but they are cheeper than the 186 and seem better suited to the horn on paper anyway???
i know they 100w less than 186 but would think bout 800w in each bin would still have good effect!! any thoughts??
