Plus a graph may look good with a PD121 but it won't tell you how it sounds. PD121 wouldn't even be my last choice for a midrange horn. Trust me, been there done all the testing. B&C PE32 from Tony is what you need.

I have never heard a PD123ER so I can't comment on that.

Yes, heard good things about B&C PE32, but won't be buying them mate.

Some of us already have PD, Fane, Celestion drivers, they work very well for the price in MT121, so no need to splurge on anything more costly, as they don't earn you any more money.

u said Celestion drivers which one u talking about

TN1225

But they are not available/price gone through the roof now. Dead

They are VERY nice sounding drivers, price is £115 or there abouts, no to bad considering the PD121 is £145...

Its not Celestion, its the price of neodymium... (I know the 1225e isn't a neo)

We are still paying 2011 prices for neo drivers, thus some smart alek has put the price of ferrite drivers up too so that there isn't such a huge gap, for effectively the same device but lighter....

When i started looking at neo drivers with intent to buy them the one's that i wanted went up from £95 per unit to £155 in 6 months... and have stayed that high since then (2011)... Even tho the price of the magnets has come back down the driver manufacturers are simply keeping the same prices.

All of this (unfortunately as this has already been said enough in this thread) can be blamed on the Chinese...

BUT ultimately the buck stops with the manufacturers of the drivers as they are the guys keeping the prices so high, for ferrite ( a much easier / more available chemical compound) and neodymium (a very dense rare earth metal) as the prices of both in raw form hasn't changed that much if you compare 2010's figures with todays figures...

Lets revolt, if we all send them an angry email (Dead) something is going to have to be done!! Embarrassed

Unfortunately, little people don't matter. Confused
Emails don't work, but posts in forums often garner rapid responses...
Especially if exposing embarrassing business practices.. LOL

Back on Topic, as said previously Mykey, few of us would like to see a graphs with mainstream reasonably priced drivers, as many of us need reason to move from our beloved MT121 combos.

SN-12B is dead.

PD123ER is great in MT121, what's it like in your gizmo !?

To get any real comparison Mykey would need to build a single MT121 and measure it against the SP12 in the same place, with same acoustics, same mic, same measurement settings etc.

Then it would be nice to see some graphs with different drivers in both horns.

I suspect that SP12 is going to be slightly louder than MT121 but with extended frequency range, smoother sound and more even dispersion.

Don't forget, Rog already plotted resp graphs, comparing MT121 vs Porn Horn.

For me personally, just need to see if resp decent, with chosen drivers, 180hz-2.0khz.

Quote MT121 and measure it against the SP12 in the same place, with same acoustics, same mic, same measurement settings etc.

Everything else needs to be under same conditions if one really wants to compare different drivers in two different horns.

Altough in this case like you said, Rog's old hangar measurement of MT121 is accurate enough. Smile

What would be really interesting would be to get some sort of polar plots from each of these horns, and if someone would take it a step further, with different drivers to see if the driver for some reason affects the dispersion.

At a guess I'd say Mykey's horn will do 180hz to 2khz quite nicely with most of the common quality drivers
