i soldered my speakons but someone said after a while they will over heat and fall apart. an that i should use spade clips . is this true?

No.

Every thing breaks eventualy (entropy etc.) but it won't be from it 'heating up'. As long as the wire you use is of a decent thickness it won't even get warm.


Keep pushing on, things are gonna get better.

Solder is probably more reliable, I can imagine spade clips vibrating off before soldering falls apart

Not exactly on topic, but it relates:

When making 300+ amp connections in the car using 0 or 00 gauge wiring, it is suggested to crimp rather than solder (as solder never makes 100% connection) something about air bubbles....

anyway... for speaker wiring, soldering is ideal!! how do you think the speakons/jacks are mounted to the amp main circuit board?

Its quite a bit of heat to melt solder, so if its getting that hot... RUN AWAY :)

As long as your good at soldering, and there are no 'Dry Connections' you'll be fine mate :)
