Possibly I am overlooking a particular brand or model, as it seems most difficult to find a compression driver that is flat from 10 kHz - 20 kHz.

Has anyone stumbled upon one?

Best Regards,

By flat, I mean a deviation no greater than +/-2 dB from 10 kHz – 20 kHz. Achieving a flat response from 10 kHz below is not hard to accomplish from a compression driver.

The Selenium D 220 TI: – 10 dB @ 21 kHz

The Beyma TPL 150: - 4dB @ 20 kHz

The Faital Pro ???: Model Number

The graph Marjan posted is around –6 dB @ 20 kHz (from 10 kHz – 20 kHz)

I am surprise to see so many compression drivers declining above 10 kHz.

Best Regards,

They all do that Elliot. You need to compensate that with your passive xover to boost the hf.

I also think that a test should be taken to establish how far up the scale you can actually hear. It would be a shame to finally find something and realize that it was a pointless exercise.

Perhaps I don't get out enough, but at my ripe old age, my hearing is only rolling off at 16KHz!!!
Do I get a medal?

I did this test a couple of days ago using a signal generator and a JBL active speaker. I found i could hear easily upto 18kHz.

Elliot could you establish a point to this exercise. Some are as we know awful. Some are great, and a tad of EQ is even better.

Beyma CP21/22

Okay, it's not a compression driver per say. But it is ±2.5dB 10kHz-20kHz.
