Yes you have a point there Ian. I have plenty of PPX amps but wouldn't bother with this one even for cannibalisation. How on earth can people treat these things so badly?

Thats been round the block a few times!!!! Out of interest how old is the PPX range? I used to work in a disco shop in the mid 90s and they hired them out. They were a little sorry looking too, but not that bad!!

Give or take a year.
The mk1 ran from around 1983 to around 1990. PPX 150 PPX 300 PPX 450 PPX 900 PPX1200 PPX1600 The mk11 1990 to about 96 if i remember. PPX150 PPX300 PPX600 PPX1200 PPX2000 PPX2400 The mk1's are more desirable and easier to repair. |

Poor PPX! I would rescue it, but its too far away from me. I'm sure there's some good bits in there somewhere. I need a breaker PPX or two at the moment.

That's worse than mine! And I thought mine was bad.
OK, that eBay one hasn't got a fan, but I'd imagine it still works! Can't remember the last time I saw a totally dead PPX... well a MK1 anyway. |

Yup,as long as the Hitachi mosfets arent dead, yes i know there is a thermal cutout, but if the fan is missing, and looking at the wiring hanging out the front,if someone has by-passed the thermal switches,it could be game over.
But as Gaz says, might be some spares for someone...transformer,it has the old style mains switch,so will have four power supply caps etc. |

Ive got one that is a bit tattier than this one and it does work Ok It had been outside in the rain for a long time as well
I will dig it out and post a pic Ian if the fans fail or are not connected the amps will run until they thermally shut down they will cool down a bit then come back to life So as we have been saying these amps are virtually indestructible |
