Yeah, Toshiba tubes were brilliant, however, read it again Mucker, where did I claim that Decca was taken over by Rank? Anyway, dig some more British names out, I think they'd all beat B & O, there again, there's always Fidelity.................I'm going reel to reel tape here, the Playmaster had to be getting on for the worst ever.......Co-Op name, Defiant.......What was Civic's brand?

it's beautiful furniture. but as hifi it's mediocre and exceptionally overpriced. i agree with previous comments, you can do a lot better for much less. bose multi-room systems for example do everything b & o do for less money, and sound better imo |

Growing up not terribly far from the B&O factory there's a story about when they tried getting into the US market in the mid-80s. They had a terrible time doing so in the beginning even though they sold through consumer electronics stores to get as many people to see it as possible and the pricing was fairly competitive. But sales were going no where. So they pulled all products from the market, set up their own chain of stores that only had b&o products, and raised the price 4 fold for the exact same goods as before, and now they were selling like hot cakes, flying off the shelves. |

Just had a Bose L1 system in for repair, the B&O ice module had failed
B&O tellys were originally made with their own chassis, (I used to have one, made 50p on ebay in GWO ) and later they went to Philips in the early 80's (Philips was by then officially the most reliable TV chassis in europe so a worthy supplier) and they also used Nordmende designs...which shared alot in common with Grundig. By the mid 90's B&O were shipping their TVs with Thomson innards which, IMHO was a retrograde step from Philips. Edited by kedwardsleisure - 22 August 2013 at 8:37pm |

Speaking of your mate, does he wanna buy my JBL ScreenArray? It's from a top soho mastering suite and was involved in the mastering for an awful lot of recent blockbuster movies.

Shouldn't that read "sound equipment" rather than "hi-fi"?
