Hi Guys, looooooooooooooong time browser, finally signed up as we are ready to start bringing a sound together now...I'll do all the intro stuff in Newbie forum..
Anyway... One of the most positive movements within the underground Dubstep scene, has been the construction of DJ/Producer VIVEK's system , and System events, which are like are time machine back to the era when our raves were filled with vibes rather than posers...Not sure if any of you know or follow them, repping West London.. with there being a big following of scoop lovers on SP i'd have thought i'd seen a bit more chat about it, but perhaps there are less people that populate my musical circles on SP. anyways theres some pics of the system here: http://trusik.tumblr.com/post/45523840647/systems-1st-birthday-by-ben-donoghue - http://trusik.tumblr.com/post/45523840647/systems-1st-birthday-by-ben-donoghue What scoops are they? Shortmans? Ligwa style bracing... Bigup Edited by T_! - 04 April 2013 at 1:35pm |

That's what I heard as well
I like the fact he's using a "reggae" pre amp to control it as well

Dubstep not really my thing, as nothing to do with Roots.

i sold 4 of my old scoops loaded with tmax 1500 to Googs n Vivek, then i got em a Mostec 4way preamp similair to mine, then i got them the gsubs, then i got them the pd186s for the gsubs, then i got them 4 x 12" mt121 mids built, then i sold them a pair of de85s for tops, they use 2 x inf8 mk2s on bass but ones blown up, they got another stack with identical scoops from Marvin and i believe he built all of the mids n tops for thier other stack aswell
That style of bracing originated from Marvin NOT Ligwa And no dubstep is nothing like real roots music! Edited by Tweeter_Box - 07 April 2013 at 8:57am |

granted, but the first few hours of the dance is roots and culture music, the sound system is a more roots inspired/oriented system than a bunch of hired FK1 you usually have Dubstep through, and the fact he's runnin a "sound" as such in a traditional way.. would mean that it ended up in here rather than anywhere else.. You can always make a dubstep sub-forum if you want, and i'll post in it and talk to myself This stereotypical view of the genre is disheartening for those who have followed it since day dot.. the commercialisation and bastardisation that gives you what you hear on the radio, is in no way linked to the true sound Same way reggae has many styles and varietys..you can't just use the word "reggae" as a generalisation Check out some riddim like this with the weight up: Was always fighting a losing battle being a 'step head here!

a good place for the pic would of been the show off your system thread i can understand why most people have the view that is dubstep has nothing to do with roots or dub. most of what people hear doesnt resemble roots/dub in the slightest. just came back from doing a hire out for a dubstep event, lots of underground non commercial djs, every tune had crazy sub, but i think only 2 tunes slightly had element of 'dub' in them. everything else was nothing like it at all.
