Your welcome credit where credit is due and all that.
I too have a love of how thing were done back in the day which is why all our new stuff is done on old principals and strictly all analogue (and hand built) and to be really honest I do think it sounds so much better without all the digital fuss. I to would love to hear you system when it's finished maybe you should do a Speakerplans member night so we can come along

Got a piece o' 12 here in my workshop Sheggy, yes you heard me right 1200w valve (24 x Kt88s), in for a service at the moment.
I have never used anything digital, never appealed to me. My number 1 set (Axis Sound System) is all analogue and will remain so. A speakerplans members night, gosh - the friction from all that chin scratching could cause a fire. I suggest Speakerplans members come to my regular nights in Huddersfield, which will be featuring the Valv-a-tron system regularly when it is finished, or catch it on the road sometime. Of course, if anyone wants to book the Valv-a-tron sound complete with myself + music, that can arranged too. |

The Dreadnought system will remain, as its been with me for a long time, especially the Orange amps. The TVM amps are being incorporated into a workshop HiFi. A few things may sell off though, not really made my mind up yet.

Peeked your FB page and I loved the old gear pics. You are truly deep in this! Massive respects and I will make a point of seeing you sound play one day.
Re. quad boxes, are do these generally have tuned ports or just a hole in the baffle? I've never heard a four face on its own, always seems to be mixed with scoops and such but then there must be variations depending on the builder. S |

Sheggy, In the old days, the four faces were not really tuned, just guesswork, but mine is tuned - the volume of the box is exactly right and the port is the right size and depth. So it gives a better output, but keeping the look the same. It also retains the sound that was characteristic of the quad, which is also enhanced by keeping the proper drivers too.
