The styli are a pain to replace, make sure that you have a sturdy needle or similar to remove the old stylus; club I worked at in the 70s had them and we found that new Stanton 500's were the better option for our (then) Goldring-Lenco GL70's  |

 Jico (based in Japan) manufactures good quality replacement stylus for it if you can't find a NOS one.

Can anyone just confirm the set up is coorect, pulled it from forum
for the Garrard 4hf  manged to pick up a Shure M3D cart to pretty simple if pic is correct as the M3D is marked up L R LG RG,waiting on new Stylus Got a GE VII to to with the record player , again waiting on new Stylus to do tests , manged to get a signal out the GE VII , just about with very heavy tracking force, sounds great , detailed , very dynamic sound , clear also to add a lot more gain from it, a/b Technics 1200 with Stanton 500 Cart looking forward for new stylus man.. respeck to all

Seeing that picture prompted me to do a bit of research. I’ve seen the 16 rpm speed on a few old garrards and lencos in the past, but never in my life have I ever seen a 16 rpm vinyl. Apparently they do exist, but are very rare and were mainly used for spoken word audio book type stuff as the sound quality from the slow speed wasn’t really good enough for music.
That garrard does look good though, must have been well looked after during its life. Does it all work ok? |
