Well I'm thinking HOG as small chamber scoop. NLW9601 should be really good driver for HOG.
Actually I'm a bit confused about chamber size vs. driver VAS.. what is the difference there high vas vs. low vas drivers in reality? (same thing with tapped horns without chamber).

My hogs are loaded with RCF LF18X400's atm and they do their job (vas: 340 litres!). Not sure, maybe there something is missing (losing some control?) but still they are quite loud and nice sounding. For sure some 18v1000, pd1850 etc would be more brutal and controlled..

Just wondering what would be the difference if I change to lower vas drivers.. or something.  Anyway I have a feeling that HOG likes lowish vas drivers.. is this correct?

Saw a quartet of these beauties at Leeds carnival throwing some serious air around!
Outdoors and no corner loading, with that nice scoopy nuttiness.
Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the sound, so any help there would be great.
Also, forgive the appalling sound quality, phone could not hack it.

Bit off topic but has anyone tried end-firing with hog scoops?

I have a gig coming up in a few mouths and the client has asked if we can reduce the bass pressure behind the stage for camping ect.

Also am i correct in thinking that a hog is a tapped horn not a rear loaded horn (scoop)

Well for me it looks like a hybrid of both. Tapped horns as far as I know, has no back chamber at all..HOG do have back chamber but its quite small.  Don't know how well end-firing works with horns, but it should work.  Even two hogs togerher really has some directivity or "throw" tho, when I was walking around my hog stack. There was MUCH more bass at front of hogs than behind even 5 meters away.  But yes, there is a lot of bass behind them too so end-firing might be the trick there.

Oh well my friends were so scared when I turned up the volume while they were standing in front of two Hogs.  No wonder, it was hard to breath and vision was blurred at 1 meter.. propably around 135-140dB of bass.

What are everyone's thoughts on a V18-1000 verses the 18PW1400Fe 8 ohms in the hog scoop? Has anybody heard both? Thanks

End firing cardiod/supercardiod should work just fine especially as they are relatively narrow band sub by design, it being a hog as opposed to a reflex covering the same band should not matter one bit as to do with relative phase between the cabinets, so as long as all the cabs share the same phase response then not a problem.

Hog scoop does have effective, exponential horn for bass reinforcement while typical tapped horn hasn't.  So for me HOG is a back loaded horn, at least more so than tapped horns.
Stacking two or more makes it even more effective as mouth area increases.

Great bass horn it is. I wonder if anyone here has measured its maximum continuous SPL @ 1m (half space environment) with a good driver beetween 30-70Hz?
