Greetings all!

I started to wonder if theres many sound systems who decide to play a 2way system?

Basically 2way bass/tops should be able to do the trick as well as 3way or 4way if done properly.Am I right?

Seems that PA sound dudes are more ok with using 2way than the reggae crews. The obvious reason to go 3way is that you can stack speakers of course but is there any other reason why 2way reggae sounds are so rare...

Even when using a preamp you can still go 2way if you want to.

What you guys think?

Most 2 way reggae systems are only 2 way in such that the pre amp is 2 way rather than they actually only use 2 speaker types to cover the full frequency range. They tend to use midtops with passive crossovers rather than separate amps for mids & tops if that makes sense.

Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Government who also happen to use reflex bass rather than scoops.

Don't understand when you say 2 way bass?

2 way. Bass tops can be done. You will need to use TC drivers. Add motorolas on resistors for extra top end

why recommend using PZT's ??? And why tell poster to use them incorrectly with resistors? I thought you thought you had knowledge of devices such as tranducers? Obviously not
it is not the correct way to use PZT's at all. unless you particularly wish to induce slew rate limiting in the driving amplifiers.
This is all very basic stuff a novice even knows
as for the 2way Reggae sound very old's cool we used to call them "Weight n Treble" TUAC used to make pre-amps called just that. then as the pre's evolved more bands were commonplace

ha ha you are funny and clearly do not understand PZT's at all!!! I know how to use them properly which i now know you do not.
lets see shall we what is the basic problem caused by this device when connected to an amplifier? do you know the theoretical circuit of such a device? do you know why the problem gets worse the more of them you add as a load?

do you know how they should be used to do it correctly to minimise the Slew rate limiting error?

this is very basic stuff here with a very simple solution any half decent Eng will know the answers to

So...are you even half decent?

well do you have the answers?? I do doubt that you have anyway but I have to keep in mind as I am often reminded this is an amateur forum so at least you in the right place.

I would rather like the answers to the questions. I will find your responses quite intriguing or at least a good indicator of your lack of knowledge.
but i fully expect not to get any from you as simple things such as this are obviously beyond your understanding or i would have expected the correct answers which you seem unable to give.

AND it is "Old's cool" coz I am both of those LOL

Size wise a proper 2way sound system seems like a good idea to me. And you can build 3way top speakers to go with your 4way preamp.

Is there any classic top speaker designs sounds used to have back in the days when they were 2way?

I wonder what was the frequency the speakers of the weight and treble sounds were crossed...
edit. was the bass speakers given more freq since the sound was 2way?

What we talking about , 2way as in 2x frequencies? (Weight n Treble)

or a 2way system , as in 2way box set up, as Mr fat mentioned Govenment that uses 2way box set up, but play 3way ie mid/top boxs...
