the last one of these had been to a famous-name repairer of great repute, and it hadn't worked. When it came to me for a second opinion, it was taking the RCD out on power-up. Earth and Neutral were swapped over inside the case.

Crown Macrotech MA5000VZ. Fault report of not achieving full output on one channel. First thing - check it's not in lock-low mode. No, all switches set for automatic. Second - lid off and eyes straight to the VZ module.
Spot the deliberate mistake.
