Saw Jack Ruby's sound 1 time between '79 - '82, I think.
The version I saw Used 8 Peavey CS 800's for bass. Was 1st time I was seeing a Peavey product too. Grew up on Sansui BA 5000 & McIntosh MC 2300 on bass (300W/ch).

At that time only Aces International (Pt Morant, St Thomas) and Jammys (Waterhouse, St Andrew) were in the same size class. I suspect Ruby at 12 quad 18" was the largest. Aces & Jammys were at 8 quads each, I think.
Recollect I left the session with a very poor impression of the sound sonically. At the time was the biggest system I ever saw or knew of....

To answer app's question. Back then they sounded heavy and blew SPL in yer face and body. Considering back then a powerful 18" speaker was 200W. Those boxes were heavy as hell to lift even with two, three man each side. As a youth-man to get a little free entrance into the dance one would sometime jump in and help lift box, even if the sound man didn't know you from adam, and the gate man just saw one as part of the sound crew...lol Back then Tubby's was definitely one of the heaviest and cleanest bass driven sounds, you felt it proper...

Dub Specialist, all I can say is holy moly!! ... Considering boxes over past few years are constructed with bracing and all sorts, speaker magnets big as fc&k so that must weight twice as much as the quads they had back in the day. Tubbys must use a fork lift truck to shift that beast
