Hi everyone,

I recently changed my 6 pd1850 for 6 oberton xb1600... as you can imagine an inf8 is not enough for them...

So my question today is, do you think that 2 inf7 bridged are enough to make run the 6...
it will go to 1,66ohms but that's don't afraid me...

If you think is not enough, what do you think is the best option?

Thanks in advance for your answer

Put a valve pre in before the Powersoft then, it amplifies what goes in really. Put those harmonics in if you want them rather than having an amp that does it regardless. A second hand TL Audio would suffice and they're pretty cheap.

Thanks for all your answer

@ Toastyghost : i agree that a valve preamp is a good idea... but i will not have the same sound as with my void isn't it?

@ sypa : i use them in hogs... the sound is warmer, deeper in the low notes and more spl ;)

You won't find a toroidal amp that will give you more power than the Inf.8, except perhaps a Crest 10001.

So your options are either one or two large Class D amplifiers (PKN or Powersoft as suggested) or maybe just a second Inf.8 so you can run three drivers on each amplifier (two on one channel, one on the other) and get a bit more power that way.

Mmmmh ok thanks for your answer man.

So you don't think 3 oberton per inf7 bridged is good?

3 oberton per inf8 bridged better?

Don't attempt bridging in either case, the load impedance is way too low.  Just run two drivers on one channel and one on the other.

Forget bridging 3x drivers across 1x amp.

Just because drivers can withstand approx 2K, doesn't mean they need that.

Try 4x drivers on INF8MK2, in place with decent mains. Then decide if enough.

Or get something like 3x INF7MK2 and bridge 2x drivers across each, or get Powersoft K20, to drive 6x.

Also, try talking to people who have owned the drivers. ;)

By the way, I have seen what Powersoft K20 reported actual load was, with Scoop loaded with Oberton 18s, & was way above 8 ohms, so it's not that driver needs 2k.

You need amps that have psus that can draw serious current & decent o/p section, & not rated at 1KHZ. LOL
