Brand new built sound system designed and built By Resonant Sounds.

Our new distro which has four xlr combo line in, four xlr combo Mic in, six xlr outputs. Three Rj45 ports one of which is for ethernet with poe for powering the Wifi router. the other two Rj45 for routing audio in out between matrix mixers and dante audio. Three 32a inputs three 32a outputs and three 16a ouputs on the front , on the back has iec connectors and powercons to amplifiers. The power meter is a acuvim II meter which we use with rs485 serial converter to ethernet.

Processing is done with a 19" rackmount matrix mixer on the back of the rack. with software control over Wifi.

Amplifiers Pkn Xe5002 powers compression drivers. Cvr d-2004 mids and bass.

Mid tops 2 way custom design 1.4" on a Tractrix horn and two 12" drivers. the grills are honeycomb very open area on a curve for stiffness.

Bassbins are our own design single 18" loaded, with a 2mm grill to stop them flexing which was a problem before. The boxes have triple 18mm brace at the front to stop the mouth flexing and triangle braces inside the mouth

Each stack has one cable from the distro with Nlt8 connectors which connects to the back of the tops. then out the tops are two Nl4 connectors for the bass, the patch leads for bass are wired in 4 pole with 2.5mm which is in a double ring to the driver terminals. the wiring is 5mm from the amplifier all the way to the drivers on bass.

Nice venue. Where was that? And the event?

Was it  a sit-down as in the photo? If so, a bit of overkill on the gear then. You could most probably have done that place with a couple of boxes on sticks! LOL

The event was at a church in loughborough and was called The whole earth chanting.

The sounds the AI created was very harsh to speaker drivers and went quite low down in frequency, at some points in the low 30s. so we only used the system at about 20% percent during the main event and the tops still cut through to the back ok, Yes everybody was seated at the event.

On sound check it was stupid, we did not dare turn it up any louder because we had just reassembled all the magnets 30hours before on the bass drivers using industrial magnet adhesive and then reconed them. so we was worried the glue had not fully cured yet and the church was seriously shaking aswell. but everything held up and we had no problems our end.

Sounded great! Everything's been time and phase aligned and we've added some heavy duty sound treatment along the back wall Smile

I recently bought a sound system from a guy we have rented multiple times for our UG -parties.

Speakers

4x Turbosound Hilight THL 828.2
6x Turbosound Hilight THL 811.3 (edit. 811 not 818)

Powered by

2x Powersoft digam K6 DSP+Aesop

I'm still quite new for the game but for last two parties I've provided the sound, there have been a quite many 'thanks' thrown from the quality of the sound. A small problem with the stack with this configuration is the height of the system and that it doesn't extend properly overhead. I have two "extenders" for the high cabinets that the previous owner threw in with the stack and although him having the stack for more than 15 years, he had not used them at all.

Maybe, get another bin and put it flat underneath, a 90x40 mid-hi  does not need to be three wide, put one on top.Or just use two mid hi on top of each other with your existing two bass ,one flat one vertical.
"couldn't we just like... use headphones?"

They give some seriously good stereo image when set like in the image, only problem is that they throw too short, with no people on the dance floor, the sweet spot to listen for the sound is really far and really wide but as more people get in front row (100+ people), back rows starts to suffer from lowered high ends.

I tried the subs horizontally stacked but that seemed to cause some serious cancellations on the dancefloor and had to turn them vertical mid gig which seemed to solve most of the problems.

Maybe I'll just make a support for the high ends to rise them half a speaker height so most of the 10" driver is above median "head high".

>90x40 mid-hi

These are 55x40 per cabinet! edit: tree cabinets stacked like in the image will give 127 degree dispersion and 2 stacked like that will give 91 degree dispersion.

But your right, having one more cabinet to have stack of 3 bass cabinets would solve most of the problems.
