We are happy with our sound but want more bass control. What to use to enhance/beef up the bass without going for the full reggae pre amp? I've looked at aphex and bbe but what are people using? We have very short signal path from turntable to speakerbox and would like to keep it clean(just more dirty bassBig smile), any recommendations or point me in a direction for research?
Signal path is- turntable,  mixer, K20&X8, scoops, hd's, mids, tops & tweets.
Many thanks in advance.  T.

Have you looked at the Ligwa 1u pre amps? They seem to do the business quite well from reviews I've seen on here
You can't polish a turd!

Parametric eq is what you need if you don't want the full preamp. They can be got cheap second hand if you look around.. great for boosting/shaping bass..

I've heard that a full parametric(3 nobs) can be a bit of a danger in the wrong hands, is that so? The Ligwa looks to fit the bill as it can be used on just the bass. I read some things, good I think, about it here but can't find the thread anymore. Any feedback on the Ligwa? Or other roads to look down?
I'm gonna take another look at parametric eq.  Thanks

Any equipment is dangerous in the wrong hands lol. Buy a separate para eq. Or an allen an heath vf1 if you can find one.

You have nothing separating the frequency bands or do you use the DSP in the amps?

Had a look at second hand parametric on the bay. Always tempted when I see the word Rane Tongue. It seems the Ligwa is in the right ball park. Yes we go from the mixer into the K20 and X8 then use the internal DSP. The sound is really very pleasingApprove...just not the same bottom end as using a preUnhappy. Does anybody have experience of a Jo Red Bassquake? I ask because the Jo Red sound seems very clean. His standard pre was something we had considered at build time and then he stopped work. Thanks for all the feedback. Some kind of pre or semi pre seems the best bet so far, I'll talk it through when the others are back in town. Cheers Thumbs Up
