The one sold on Fb was a bonafide Metro preamp for sure. As far as what was taken would have been on the truck like spare preamp and garrard.
Miss that old sound too much .
LET THE BASS ROLL LIKE THUNDER

In regard to sage pre, having heard a friend's recently, I reckon they sound great and very flexible.

Yeah unlike many of you, I don't have anything prior to this one to compare it to but I'd tend to agree the construction, assembly and components all appear to be solid.

Also, Alex has always been responsive with answering questions regarding customization, general operation and he's an active builder so that gives a little peace of mind should it ever need to be repaired.

But I'm in the states and unless you're capable of building your own there are not many options over here. The main factor for my use was the flexibility in setting/changing/customizing crossover points as needed without having to crack it open or lug it back to the builder.

I do though occasionally follow the reggae preamp FB group with envy and have always gravitated towards vintage gear and love seeing many of the older units you guys have posted here.

Hope someday to get my hands on a vintage Links, Barracuda, Mostec, Errol's, Tubby's ect. though I'm certainly not holding my breath.

Thumbs Up

Yup, baby brother.

I've got a bit of a problem with acquiring old delay units. Wink
Right now my Ibanez AD-150 and BEL BD-80 see the most use.

Agreed, llooks like a Barracuda, very similar layout. Maybe someone requested different leds, to be.... erm, different!
Maybe the true test is in it's sound. Barracuda, to my ears, have a distinctive top mid and tops sound (sharp!)

Ps, I'm in the market for a pre, no particular maker sought. Quite happy if it needs a service...

Dub: take some photos inside the unit.. may well help tell if its made by baracudda.. i have serviced 3 or 4 different barras so the psu, lay-out etc might help identify the builder..
