That's actually a rightful concern, it'd be far more worse if it was a whole panel though, as long as it can "breathe" through the sides it's ok.
The problem with having the port so close to a wooden object is that it can absorb a lot of heat which is going directly back to the voicecoil. However it should be no real issue unless you overpower the thing, which you're not supposed to anyway.

i asked before how close to the vent could i go, and i'm sure i was told that once there was the same distance as the diameter of the vent, it'd be fine.

you've loads of room there.

Well it's up and running at an event. Tighter, cleaner more punchy And goes lower than the peavey it's replacing.

What difference does a brand new driver make? How do they change as they bed in?

I guess the general consensus is that fs shifts a little bit down as the suspension gets worked out and slightly less stiff?

Ha Ha!

Yeah I would have been!

As it was they sounded better from the start and six hours later at the end if the night they were wiping the floor with them. Noticeable difference after that time.    The comparison made the peavey sound like it was playing through wet carpet.

I now need to tune the boxes proper so got to read up on rew and impedance measurements.

I'll update as I go!

Such a nice build. As much as I want to call out the bracing as superfluous woodwork, we're all guilty of it in one way or another...

The bracing was inspired somewhat by csg's thread on here. I tried to maximise what the bracing could do for minimising any vibration of the box without adding too much weight.

I've got lateral *and* cross bracing in one arrangement and the boxes are an easy lift. In use I put my hand on them and the vibration is minimal in all areas as they are clearly very stiffened by the bracing structure.

Superfluous maybe but it's certainly achieving what I wanted!
