i went 5 way last night with some X1s. X1s fit nicely under tse218s.. but they may not be what you're after if you always take out bigger stacks.

Back in the bulldog days first swapped floods for r4. Plenty of height and lots of dodgy strap to be seen. But genuine 5way, a pair of epc780's driving the 4ohm 21's 25hz-50hz and three more epc780 on the 218s 35hz-114hz. The important bit was blanking of the front of the steeldeck riser..

Funily enough, pretty much what I did with the first Flood prototypes, 21s, TSE-218s and Flood, this action did not impress one of the designers, but I got around the "blanking" issue by using more 21s,..
In fact, 6x21, 2x TSE-218s and 2 floods could be the definative "Dance stack"!! Sorry Ford, missed the fact it was you thatsaid about splitting the 118s and TMS-4 to different bands, back in the day we've all done it, but another factor is if you trash an LS-1802 you will struggle to re-cone it, and as we all know, no 18" goes faster!!!!!! The trick with all the stuff from the farm is instead of overdriving it, have a bigger pile of boxes instead. Edited by 4D - 22 May 2017 at 2:03pm |

Bear in mind the TFL-780L was the flood/Flash low end, they never really went upto 180Hz that well to meet the mid-hi boxes, I suspect the 50Hz HPF was to try and re-cycle some energy upto the high end.
I always ran them 30Hz up under TMS (and 5way for Flash flood, cuz I could!!!)

Turbo DSP settings for the 721 is 15hz 24db BW hi-pass and 152hz 24db LR hi-pass. The spec sheet isn't used for settings.

@15Hz you are throwing a lot of Energy into frequencies only a Whale can hear...
Also given the age of the boxes, likely to demolish them... I'd start @ 30Hz 24LR, you get more sub with the higher pass anyways.... |
