Hi
can anyone identify this. mounted on a little bracket just in front of the speaker surround. I assume it is some sort of tiny microphone feeding back distortion measurement to the active amplifier but the part number isn't coming up in google. |

The round black plastic shape reminds me of an infra-red receiver. Maybe some kind of IR-based excursion sensor?
But simplest explanations first.... do these speakers have a remote control?

Does look optical as suggested, perhaps part of a laser based driver excursion measurement system?

it does have remote control but the sensor is on the back of the cabinet
the way it is mounted I don't think it is optical because that shiny black bit faces away from the driver and the wires out the back are between the device and the speaker surround |

It's a IR remote receiver chip, similar to a VS1838 or
TSOP321....
REM = REMOTE signal output. G = 0v VCC = +5v Edited by APW - 06 July 2017 at 4:43pm |

it is connected to the media player board rather than the amplifier board which also makes me doubt it is an audio sensor. if it is a remote control receiver it doesn't bloody work and the one on the back of the cabinet does LOL
thanks everyone |
