Their racks and speaker wire (replace the connectors) are OK too.
Most of their other stuff should be avoided. Seismic Audio Speakers, Inc 3980 Premier Avenue Memphis, TN 38118 |

If those are from Memphis,TN, I agree, their signal cables are solid quality, everything else not so much. |

I have a mixture of lots of very nice cables and cheaper stuff for penny pinching dry hire.
All cables get tested and checked when purchased including the customary bend and flex test. And then tested before and after (including a clean) every gig with a cable tester. Never had an XLR fail on me mid gig. *touchwood* But also on another note your client ain't gonna know or care about the difference between VanDamme/Sommer/Kelsey vs Cheap brand. We care because it feels and coils better.

This. Using cheap shitty cables gives you no recursible chain of supply. WHEN you get a random cable failure as GAZ described, being able to turn around and say 'it's a Belden/Sommer/Kelsey/etc cable with neutrik/switchcraft/etc connectors.' There's not much more anyone could expect you to have done to prevent the failure. Saying 'it's cheap shitty cable but I checked it before we used it!' Just makes you look like a shambles. |

I have to re-work about one-in-ten of the cheap cables I buy.
So what? They come in six different cable colors, and have three different colors of heatshrink. In the end, it saves time and money to buy them and check every end. |

I usually by 'Canare' cable and make up my own. was lazey in this case. Like djk said cheaper that buying the conectors. This was a pair packaged seperatly. The other one was near the same. Soundhouse cheapo cables have plastic sleeve on the pins. Hosa don't by all accounts.

What part of 'I buy cheap cables with good connectors, and then check every one before use.' didn't you understand?

I generally only make my own. Decent quality cable and neutrik connector. The only others I've got are blue Arans own ones which seem very good for the money, and they warranty them I believe. False economy buying cheap cables, doesn't look good on you when the lead singer drops out after moving a cable.

I buy cheap cables with good connectors, and then check every one before use.
These ship for free, and sell for less than I can buy the connectors for. Edited by _djk_ - 13 September 2017 at 10:47pm |

I am shocked to see such work from "Hosa" as they have been around for decades. You should contact them on your findings. http://hosatech.com/

At least you were able to open it up & repair. A lot of those use sealed connectors that are impossible to open. And the section there looks good. I´ve seen some (mainly RCA-RCA) that are made with around 2 strands of hair-thin copper/feed.
