Free birch skeletal SP10 build

   Hi SP,I've been given a fair bit of 24mm birch at uni so restarting a project which has been on the back burner for a few years now! I've been reading SP for so long but this will be the first time documenting any build and hopefully getting to a usable system. 

I bought a pair of sp10 flares last year and b&c 10md26 which I would like to turn into a skeletal trap cab with a 1"cd and 60x40 horn(which I'm about to order from blue Aran with a few other bits like nl4s). 

Prioritising keeping the weight down so 24mm ply is a great start! I have limited build experience but this will be the first time utilising a workshop with a decent compliment of tools so it should be fun! I even have the potential of free CNC cutting but when I went to draw up a design on f360 last night I found my licence had expired... I'll find a way round that but in the meantime just going to share a few pics to get started.

One of the flares which I plan to drill for m5 countersunk bolts and spray today. Other flare is not drilled at all.

The flares have been kicking round for a while unused but seem complete with phase bungs and backbowls.

The one confusing thing is that the backbowls don't accommodate the 10md26 which was the recommended driver as far as I know. Other driver mentioned was a fane studio 10m which I get the feeling would fit... So I plan to make a ply spacer which will also support the weight of the driver on the end of the flare. 

This is in the workshop where I have access to build. Tracksaw, router, lots of clamps and a spray booth. 7 pieces of 24 BB birch approx 800x400 to use as well as a lot of offcuts.

Importantly the only reason this build is happening now is free wood and to have a bit of fun making a DIY cab as well as offering sawdust unto the ply gods that doth provide!

I'll be back with the digital equivalent of a fag packet sketch later on so you can see what I'm envisioning. All input welcome, thanks all for the inspiration over the years!

	A couple of thoughts. 1: Most loudspeaker cabs are built in 18mm birch; some smaller ones like mid-highs even in 15mm, so your 24mm cabs will be a lot heavier rather than lighter. 2: Can't see your images at all, you may need to go to your Google drive and re-set sharing/viewing permissions, or just host on somewhere like Imgur that's better suited to the job. Apart from those, sounds interesting and do keep us informed how it goes!

	sell the 24mm ply and buy some thinner stuff.
