A friend of mine has an offer of a genny to run his Bishopsound rig at a small music festival later this year. The rig is their Big Gig Rig 20 rated @ 4,000 watts, powered by a Behringer NX6000D, with a DAP Audio HP 3000 on bass, and another Behringer amp ( KM 1700 ) on monitor duties.
Unfortunately , he does not have any details of the genny, so I though the best way was to ask  you Guys on this forum what the minimum requirement would be for this rig, please ?

Add up the total output of all the amps as they will be used and add 10%.

I would use a DIESEL AVR Generator rated at double the amount of power I need to draw. This will keep it stable during heavy basslines.

Hi Guys,

Ok , thanks for your comments, much appreciated.

If we are to believe the outputs are genuine, then the total + 10% gives a figure of 11,770 watts. So my estimate of 10,000- 12,000 watts should suffice for the genny.
Is there a problem with Bishopsound gear, then, Guys ?
Cheers

Ok, so the event mentioned took place  last Saturday.

The event power/ genny guys turned-up with an enormous genny on a trailor, towed by a 4x4.

On enquiring the power output, I was informed that they had earmarked a 60kva genny for this event, but it was not available on the day. So, the only one they had available was the one they brought along which was 100kva. However, on seeing the Bishopsound Big Gig Rig 20 set-up, the reality sunk-in that they had over-spec'd the power by a factor of around 9, allowing for the stalls/small fridges that also needed power !
However, due to an air-lock in the diesel fuel pipes, it took a couple of hours to get it started, so the event was late starting( inflatable cover, with staging built after inflation).
One of the new amps, Behri' 6000D( all first time-out for this whole rig) decided to drop-out  intermittently, so we had intermittent FOH until we managed to borrow a LAB IPD 1200 for the tops from the genny guys, to save the day for the last  couple of live bands. Embarrassed

But (I don’t want to derail the thread) how did the Bishopsound rig sound?! You might be the only person to have actually heard one!
