Sorry to revive an ancient thread but i found a Matamp crossover today in the scrap. I was wondering if it's still a decent unit or whether it's too noisy by modern standards?

its a worthy relic from a bygon age ,probably one of the first active crossovers ,Matamp (Radiocraft Huddersfield, made Orange guitar amps ), We had one of those in plain silver and black with a H&H V800 rig , There is very little circuitry in them to go wrong ,But the push buttons were a liability , they sounded great at the time , but there are way better vintage options about (not Gauss or Ashley). The aformentioned ATC 3 way with optical limiters was one I used regularly before getting into BSS340s and 360s (which are still good if they are properly serviced)

If anyone could help, it would be Paul Axis from Huddersfield
He and his mate Mac know the Matamp guy. He would certainly be able to point you in the correct direction

Heres a picture, not sure if it was modified or factory built like this Edit pics wont upload, its built in to a flight case with all the ins and outs on a separate 2u panel underneath. I’m not expecting anything crazy from it, just throwing together a system from various bits ive found like EAF KF650’s, a pair of TOA P300D’s and now need some kind of preamp

obscure vintage gear tends to fetch decent prices. if you are more into using it as a simple solution i think you would be best to sell it as vintage gear and go for a simple "new"crossover like a dBX 223/234. likely will end for you with some pocket money besides a crossover which hasn't its own mind.
