[POSTED IN ANOTHER THREAD IN NEWBIE]
Hi, i want to make some Ethercon xlr tails,
Are most cables and breakout boxes wires with T568a standard generally, or T568b? Or does it change from manufacturer to manufacturer?? |

When making ethernet cables up it really doesn't matter which standard you choose to wire them, as long as both ends of the cables you make match. For your fan ins and outs you want to keep the twisted pairs together in order to benefit from the common mode rejection, but as both wiring conventions maintain twisted pairs as long as your fan ins and outs match, it really doesn't matter. Sound tools (rat sound) publish their standard https://cdn.soundtools.com/pdfs/etherCONwiringdiagram.pdf and tmb publish their standard for dmx https://tmb.com/docs/sneak-snake/SneakSnake-A4-web.pdf you can see that the channel numbers don't match, but the twisted pairs are kept as pairs so they would work together, but with ch 1 on TMB being ch 3 on Sound tools....

We buy TMB sneak snakes and LEDJ sneak snakes, and convert them all to TMB standard wiring, as the LEDJ units are £100 cheaper than the tmb ones, and just need renumbering to be matching

B type always, think A type is rarely used. i've terminated 1000s of net cables at this point and never once seen A type |
