Topic: Scaled down 15" version of the 1850 horn?Posted: 12 May 2013 at 3:58pm |

Hi all, after a huge search through the Internet, I couldn't find any plans for a 15" 1850. I believe that the 1850 horn is an over sized kick bin, as it can get any serious bass as the likes of a Lab, or Stasys style bin. And I love the design of the 1850 horn, but I am very against the idea of an 18" kick.
So my question is does anyone have any plans of a 15" scaled version, or if anyone can make any plans? Much appreciated. Cheers |

Er....
The name "1850 horn" should be a clue. It's designed for the PD1850 driver (but some others work well too). It's an 18" driver. You can't just resize something and expect it to work with a different driver. That's a completely new design. If you want kick, you don't need the horn length of the 1850 (1.6m). The length is only important for getting down to the low-bass/sub frequencies. What you want is a HD15. Compact, simple and bloody good at one thing: KICK. Stacks of 6 will, when run properly, kick your head off! Also important to mention: The 1850 is a "one bass" design. You only need ONE type of can to do all your bass (it does kick and sub). You keep talking about kick, so I assume you already have subs? The HD15 is part of a "two bass" design. You will need kick AND sub cabs (HD and X1 are a very popular combo). The most important advice I can probably give you is forget about the driver size!! It really doesn't matter! The USB is a killer KICK cab (18" driver). The LAB is a monster SUB cab (12" drivers). Still think the driver size matters?
