Laptop purchase...

   My better half's boss wants to buy a laptop and as I "know a bit about computers" I've been given the task of checking what he's going to get is what he needs... so no stress whatsoever!

Anyway, he's been out looking at things and came across the Toshiba S70-10C from John Lewis (so you get the extra guarantee) for £649.99. Now the price seems to be good but my question is this, is there anything better?

His uses are going to be 'work things' so MS Office (and it's got to be MS as he works for a Government department and they HAVE to use MS!), film and photography work, DVD playback (he hasn't got a TV anymore) and the usual 'net surfing, emailing etc etc. Also, he's not amazingly computer literate!

His budget is £650 max.
