Hi.
Can anyone help me with this please?
Having just finished sorting out my new bass bins i am about to start building a pair of MT1281s using XT8 mid horns to go with them.
The thing is a mate has just told me he now has an account with Fane which could literally knock hundreds off the cost of the drivers.
Having trawled through the MT122 threads i can't find much info on using Fane.
I have tried to find something in the Fane catalog to match the PD 122 and the closest i think would be the Colossus 12MB for the lower end and the Sovereign 8-225 for the mid.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these or any other possible fane drivers?

It's not how big it is, it's what you do with it!

it's the pd123er you're trying to match, and if you look in main speakerplans site faq there's a good piece on parameters for midrange horn drivers, have a read of that..

I use sovereigns (10-300) in my MT-102s and they sound lush, nice and crisp, very clear and they don't need a lot of power to make a lot of noise (one MT102 easily keeps up with six HDs!). The 8-225s in XT8s should sound immense. I haven't heard the colossus12MB personally in an MT122/1 but have been told they do the business.

Hmm.
Well, Having read Roger's advice on choosing drivers in the FAQs. Going on the FS, QTS and BL figures the Colossus 12 looks like it could work. However, when you devide the FS with the QES its not looking so good with an EBP of 165. although it's not too far out.
The 8-225 with an EBP of 147.6 is not looking so good eather compared to the EBP of 435 of the B&C the XT8 is designed for.
The Fane Crescendo 8 looks a bit better at 195 or RCF, at 205 for another cheaper alternative.
Actually. Having just read the FAQ again roger gives an EBP of over 130 for lower mid  and over 180 for upper mid so the Colossus 12  with the crescendo 8 look like they could work for what i want.
The PD 123er has an EBP of 233 (acording to my calculations) but has to play a lot higher frequencies
than mine will go.
