Hi, I'm new and came here because it looks like this is the place to interface with Akabak users.

In the past I have used the legacy version of Akabak but only out of necessity.  I would create a sim in Hornresp and if I needed more segments or features than Hornresp could provide I would export the Hornresp file, import into Akabak and continue.

At this point I'm not sure whether I should try to force my new computer to continue using legacy Akabak or learn new Akabak.  Legacy Akabak did everything I ever needed except the ability to use PAR segments.

New Akabak seems ridiculously complicated for what I'm trying to do.  Just reading the Intro Course Part 1 we have already introduced LEM, BEM, VACS, FreeCAD, passive crossovers, modeling the curvature of a diaphragm and I bunch of other stuff and I haven't seen anything at all yet that relates to anything I want to do or how to do it.

It would seem that you need a PHD in Akabak to even begin to use it, how long does it actually take, and is there a shortcut that allows subwoofer sims that bypasses all the extraneous stuff I will never use?

The first thing I tried to do was import a Hornresp text file.  The website says I should be able to do this and it should be easy.  Inside the LEM section I do believe I was able to import the file but I can't figure out what to do with it.  I press the buttons to run the sims and nothing happens.

How did you guys learn to use this?  How long did it take?  Is it mandatory to start from the start and learn every single thing that I'm never going to use in order to run the few features I will use?

I see the impressive things people are doing with it but if this is going to require hundreds of hours just to get started I'm not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze.  I don't even know how to use CAD, which seems to be the launch point for the BEM part.  It took way too long to realize VACS was a separate program and separate download.

Legacy Akabak was complicated enough but aside from the PAR segment limitation it was nice.  New Akabak is my new nightmare so any insights are appreciated.
