Hey all!
Looking for your advice. My current speakers are Altec 9842 ( 2-way, vented box, 12" + 1" compression driver/horn, crossed 1500hz). I dig the speakers but i feel they lack punch and authority in lower range. So i was thinking going 3-way, new mid/bass below 1500 hz and using the Altec compression driver. My thinking: MT102 with the Altec cd and subs (186 horn?) crossed about 250hz. What do you guys think about the idea? I know it`s a huge system for domestic application, but I`m looking for advice/comments how it would sound? Listening position about 3m from the speakers, too close maybe? 186 Extension only 50hz, how about in real world (small space), Fidelity, no idea... Music mostly electronic, but basically it should sound good at any given material. Comments? Also if somebody here in Helsinki Finland has build the MT102, MT122 or the 186 sub, would be really nice to hear them.. -Jarno |

Thanks for the input! What about the MT102 for mids? Suggestions for good reflex box? I think my Altec sound a little "boxy, trying to avoid that character...what about reflex bass vs boxyness?
