Were all gifted somehow.

But its true that Americans dont have the best of education system.

We had tests in school when I was little where we had to memorize the multiplication table. When you learned that and thru that splitting its easy to do all kinds of calculations.

edit. We had those take 1/2 of this math at first grade or preschoolLOL Youre still sticking to it Big smile

To be honest I think I wouldnt survive 5th grade math at the momentLOL I too had problem calculating box volume, if a skill is not used regularly it will fade away and needs some relearnin to remember things again. Its all good.

But I hope the guy will get his box done, good luck!Thumbs Up

I learned all of this and I can do it by hand, but after the first speakers I built when I did all the conversions, I just switched officially to the metric system even for my own designs.

Sorry for the thread jack OP. I will shut up now.

Wow, way to welcome someone to a forum. Yes, I googled and tried the mm to inches converter, and just because I haven't switched over to metric system, that makes me stupid? I was only asking if anyone has ever converted the measurements into inches because yes, we stupid under-educated americans still use inches. I wasn't trying to change the design in any way, as I know it will effect the performance. But thanks for the lovely greeting, silly me for thinking that this was a site where people build things for the love of it, and openly share and try to help others who may not be as experienced as themselves. If I offended anyone with my lack of knowledge, I apologize.

this converter will do mm to inches and fractions link

definitely worth getting a set of rulers / tapes with both on them though.

No no no. I was stupid and our country has made a mistake in sticking with our way of measuring things. I am trying to save you from those mistakes. I am sorry you read it that way. Seriously it is just more work to use inches.

The converters I provided will get it done. The one Cravings provided is even better and more simple. If somebody already did the work for you on their own, that may save you additional time, but this site has few of us who would even have use of that plan in inches. It seems unlikely.

I apologize again. I did not mean to be a jerk. Welcome to the forum. There is useful info. People do talk trash to each other a bit too, but I try not to.

Deeboy

You’re probably having trouble converting as a lot of European metric  drawings are drawn in centimeters and not millimeters, 1cm = 10mm, 1mtr = 100cm = 1000mm…. 1inch is 2.54cm or 25.4mm.

And as t.geessounds suggested the easiest way is to buy a metric tape, the metric system is very simple to learn (far easier that imperial) as all the fractions are simple divisions of 10. Most metric tapes are also in centimeters with the small sub-divisions being millimeters.

http://www.thetapestore.co.uk/knowledgebase/How/Tape_Measure_Markings_%E2%80%93_What_Do_They_Mean_.html

In the link above look at the image in the 'Imperial and metric markings' section and you should see what I mean.

I hope this helps.
