+10 Nathon HI-1400 outputs "TRUE" 2kwpc @ 4 ohms @ 40-50hz (benched). Number of sound systems owners have told me, this amp can fully power 2x PD1850s per channel, with headroom remaining. That tells me an Inf8Mk2 could mince 2x 1850s/V18-1000s per channel easily. So these drivers just need true 1kW behind them, not psuedo watts. |

i've run a pair of 186 loaded scoops bridged off an inf7 at 0db, think thats 2500w rms per driver.
of course they melted but lasted a good 5 hours flat out. i wouldnt be that surprised if they took 2k rms for an eve, (that is 2k rms by amp rating not continous sine). and who knows maybe the 1850 could have survived the bridged inf7 onslaught? when im feeling rich eh? |

The 1850's can take extreme punishment but like with all speakers you have a long term and short term spec's. Powered sensibly with ample headroom they'll last longer. If you need more spl hook up more subs.

Over excursion is a big killer with some poorly tuned boxes (the ones with ports the sizes , some people tune them faaar too low.
I tend to be conservative and run them at 900rms a piece and haven't had problems, running them at 2kw is just plain foolish... unless all you have with you in a field are two subs for a big 2-3 hour party and the hire covers the recone, but how often does that happen ? |

So who plays a sine wave continuously? No, you can run an amp capable of 1200 or 1500W continuous, just short of clipping, into a 1850, so long as you play music, not a sine wave.

And the impedance of the driver increases with the load of the air in the cabinet, especially when it's resonant, more so with horns. If the impedance increases to 15 ohms, your 2K amp playing intermittent stuff, like music, even compressed bass, probably won't be averaging more than 800WRMS, and your 1850 will be OK. With an amp that can only put 800W into 8ohms, you might only be putting 300W average into your speaker.

Don't ask to hire any subs from me... ![]() You need to go to few sound clashes with WSP, Aba Shanti, JTS.. Then you'll hear what 1850 with 900W rms of compressed bass will do... |
