big cargo planes have to land somewhere when they are that low to the ground .

back to topic - i may be mistaken, i totaly missed this thread, but isn't the rave horn the one that used... 16? 18" drivers? and was made with bricks and concrete into the stage? i remember seeing images of that a long time ago but i'm not sure, is that the ravehorn you all are going nuts about?

No, the one with the 16 18" cones was a different one..I posted a link up some time back. Some people called Royal Devices, the sub was called "Donna" and claimed to be the "The worlds largest subwoofer" (but probably wasn't).
Same kind of construction as the ravehorn..brick/concrete. Strange thing was they had it under the floor in a large listening room with horn mouth coming out of the floor. Seems they used it for watching movies and stuff. Claimed flat to 10Hz and some ridiculous output with a tiny amount of power fed to each driver. 16x 18"s  with something like 400w between them.
Don't have time to search out the link now..search "worlds largest subwoofer" and it should come up..

the ravehorn, was a large horn built with foot thick concrete, and basicly formed the stage of a club. He only ever got to load it with 2x18" subs due to cash flow contraints. optimum would have been a load of 10"ers but he never had time to do this. the design was a W type horn (but like 6m horn path).

b4 i sold the club i borrowed as much extra eq as i could from some rental guy friends so i could run the system as i had intended it to be .  I ran the ravehorn with 10k & 8 12"'s () in a really simple open back v-wedge literally forced against the throat of the horn, with some foam rubber making the seal airtight (i used a car jack to force it against the throat..)  the big infra-horn is a project i definitely want to repeat somewhere else.  with 10kw going into it,  it would have eventually caused structural damage.  The ceiling was making *alot* of noise.
I've made a really basic site with photos here: http://roborg.007ihost.com/
I've got some more photos of the club interior, but the only thing of real interest there was the ravehorn.
The club was sold last year.  The new owner shut up shop around xmas & since the building has been totally cleared of anything vaguely club-like

cheers,
  Rob.
