Hi,

I'm after some advice/suggestions please on re-specing our four x15s'. At the mo they are all loaded with P audio sn15mb 300w Drivers, and P audio bmd 450 80w CDs. Unfortunately we have blown both a 15 and a comp a little while ago. I've pretty much given up on trying to find a replacement P audio sn15mb and there don't seem to be many, if any suitable replacements (a driver that will go up high enough to meet the comp with out sounding gash). I'm also aware that the comps arn't all that great sounding.

The x15s' are used quite a lot for live stuff on there own, however because the sn15mbs don't go that low comfortably bass is an issue. we've been talking about re-specing with a driver that can. If we do go down that road we will have to change to comps that can go lower to meet the new driver i'd imagine.

I'm thinking 1inch BMS comps as I know they go reasonably low+good sound.

We do use bass cabs in conjunction with the x15s, however due to logistics the x15s sometimes have to be used on there own.

Funds are tight so 'value for money' is important.

Any advice/ideas would be massively appreciated

Cheers

Ray

yeah.. i lost an sn15-mb last year.. as you say, replacements aren't about these days. i've just recently ordered a pair of BMS 15N620 from tony on here.. will see how they go. in my case these are for XM15s.

other people have suggested eminence kappalite 3015, i've stuck in a pair of kappa pro 15A because i had them... i really don't like them as much as the p-audio ones though. and again others have suggested Beyma 15P80nd.

i've never used the BMD 450, so i don't know. i've had B&C de250s in mine.. but one is sounding a lot quieter than the other since the incident that took out the 15" driver.. so again, for now i've put in a pair of P-audio PA-D44, again, because i have them.

I've also ordered a pair of the BMS comps from tony too.. i have 2 similar pairs of cabs so i can swap things around and compare and contrast and see what's what.

there's plenty to read out there about this alright..

Cheers cravings. Yeah I'm on the case reading up on hear. We too are toying with the idea of having two different loaded pairs of cabs to suit application, either two being used on their own for live stuff or two on top of es18s + Hogs

Cheers Krayzneil

Would the pd153er give better low end than the  sn15mb? I see they can take more power than the sn15mb and they have a resonance of 40hz, so am I right in assumming we can get some more bass when being run full range?

for low end response you probably want to look into simulating the cab with different drivers. use the free software WINISD and input the box volume and port sizes and such, and the driver paramaters to see how things look..
