If you look at the Eminence site you can see that they increased the magnet size and weight with 1,5 kg (25 oz) to the Kappa Pro-15LF  08/04/03. The price is still resonable compared with PD 154. Is this driver better? Same as Eminence Kappa 15LF?

Well the new version is 600w rms with bigger magnet size and weight and the older version is 400w rms with smaller magnet size and weight.

PD154 is a much better driver though. The Kappa Pro 15LF is better than the kappa 15LF because it has die cast aluminium frame instead of pressed steel, push terminals instead of 'solder on' terminals creating some problems and 600w rms instead of 500w rms the 15lf non-pro version has.

Thanks for the advice. I will go for the PD 154! I have built 2 Labhorn subs. How many HD 15 do you think I must have to keep up with the labs? What will be the best crossover? 90-100 HZ is optimal for the labhorns. Sorry for all my silly questions but here in Sweden there is no one to ask

Think it is 4 HD15's you need for 2 Lab Subs.

I have 4 HD15's for 4 Lab subs, but i like it sub heavy.

but I use Pd158's in them powered with 750w each. They're wicked.

I cross them over at 80hz.

Build 4, cos you'l be wanting to build 4 more labs soon.

Yes and if you look at the following post from the eminence site you will see that the labs ought to be used in 4 bin groups or more. If people are blowing drivers in the labs this is probably why!

The LABHorn design has five points that you must consider when using them:

1.  You can not hear the driver distort when you push them too hard.   So, most folks do not know when to turn them down.   They push them till they break.  It takes a while to get used to the extra clean sound of this cabinet and learn how hard you can push it.
2.  They were designed to be used in groups of 4 to 6 cabinets to get the desired SPL at very low frequencies (below 45 Hz).   A lot of folks are running them as singles and trying to EQ the bottom end to get more low bass output.   This pushes the drivers past their safe operating range very quickly.   If you need a lot of very low bass, use more cabinets.
3.  When one driver quits working, the other driver gets torn up as well because they both fire into a common high pressure cavity.   The user needs to look upon the drivers as a single more expensive driver.   You always need to use two, so buy two.
4. Air leaks will kill the driver.   The driver has a VERY loose suspension and requires that the small chamber behind it be absolutely air tight.   Care must be taken to get that chamber sealed and keep it sealed.   Before every show, check all the screws that keep the cover on  as they may work loose and cause a leak.
5. You must use a high pass filter set to 35 Hz and that has a slope of at least 24dB per octave to realize the real potential of the design.   Many folks are using huge power on these cabinets day in and day out, but they are the ones who run steep high pass filters on them.
All you need to know is:
Sensitivity + Power Handling - Power Compression = Max Output
