Hi all

I have tried the search but couldn't find anything that didn't confuse me LOL

What is the best way to set the lmiiter on my DSP without and clever math's. I belvie that I can run the amps to clip without cabs plugged in and then set the limiter to just below clip. Im just not sure how to go about this..

This a noob question..

AX88, RB212, PUN v3 - Line research ASC48 - 4xE45 1xE4-75

Any help of point in the right dsirection would be ace!

Thanks Big smile

Have you tried the Linea Research System Engineer software?

Without speakers plugged in there will be no voltage drop due to load current ... The clip lights just tell you when the output voltage is equal to the power supply rail voltage  ...so no !

The MC2 amps have clip limiting anyway! Lots of other limiter settings to adjust with an ASC48!

Are all your amps the perfect size for each crossover band? It's possible but it's more likely the mid/high bands have more power on tap that is really necessary for balanced sound, and if that is the case you can use the subs as the reference.
When you have the system dialed in for balanced sound across all output bands at lower levels, when cranked up the amp powering the subs should be the first to reach max output. That will then be the limit point for all crossover output bands. Lots of people will argue this but they would be wrong, if you don't set all limiters to activate at the same level then when the system is pushed harder the lowend disappears and you are left with too much highend.

MC2 E45 data sheet says +5.7dBu for full power with voltage gain set to 36dB.  I would knock it down 1-2dB though, the punishers do get warm with the small closed chamber.

What drivers do you have in the RB212s, and are the AX88s the older 80W drivers, are they 12 ohm drivers?

or you set rms and peak limiters on all bands with different threshold and attack times to prevent damage AND put a lower ratio compressor on the full range signal to control the level when pushed hard.

The RB212's are loaded with RCF MB12N405. The ax88's do have the original drivers in them.

Thanks for the replies above everyone. I have made some headway with this now...

Using the F1 limiter calculator inputting the values below it tells me that the threshold should be set to just below 9.2DBu or 89.44v

Driver power AES - 1000w
Impedence - 8 Ohm
Amp gain 32db

From reading loads of posts on here and some previous experience you don't want to put more than 700w into the Caire 12.00sw driver in a punisher v3 cabinet.

So I should change this calculation to use 700w?

Giving me just under 7.7DBu to be set in the Threshold field on the ASC48.

There is also the overshoot value which I am not totally sure about just yet
