Hi i seen this USB box and the 1850 horn

Because the USB box can have two 1850 speakers.

will this make it better than the 1850 horn (ignoring price)

I relly wondered why F1 and turbo sound seem to make boxes like this rather than the 1850 style horn.

Im relly looking for the bigest bass I can fit in a small van, I can fit 4 horn boxes but not sure what for the size will be best. needs to go outside so volume per box size is most important

The 1850 horn can play lower than a USB because the horn is longer. The USB was designed as a kick cab to go above Labhorns. I don't think you really want to be putting a PD1850 in the USB anyway. Better off with 186, or for silly spl Turbomax 1500's (I have Fane 18B's in mine, as I think they sound the sweetest).

IMO the USB is the better sounding box, though the 1850 probably has the edge on the spl front. I'm really not a fan of the 1850 horn at all to be honest. It's very hard sounding, not particularly musical and could be likened to the sound of someone smashing the back of the box with a sledge hammer. Although it has it's purposes and I'm sure there will be people that disagree with me.

From what you say. (I play jungle, dubstep, reggae, ukhiphop)

4 x PD1850 horns. outdoors. (3200W)
4 x USB outdoors (6400W)

if two rigs like this clashed, who would win the bass war.

would the 4 PD1850 attact more people with this SPL and lows.

or would the USB win because of double the power per size and better hifi.

or would the USB be useless without the Labhorn

Im well confused. want to get it right from the outset.

or would people just notice more wobbly low bass comming from the PD1850

For the type of music that you mentioned (jungle, dubstep, reggae), neither the 1850 horn, nor the USB are a good choice of box. You need something that will play lower than either of those really. If space is really an issue, then have a look at front loaded reflex subs (half Gsubs?) or possibly Rhino scoops.

BP Sound has six USB type with Turbomax 1500.
Very, very silly spl, seem to go low enough as well
FOUR 4x10's with Mental ££££ Neo JBL 2" are needed on top (reflex) to keep up so I'm told.
It just is.

Yep, but I really don't think they're suitable if he's gonna want to be playing dub and reggae. It would seem much more sensible to go down the scoop route (Hog's, or Rhino's if hogs are too big). Or reflex.

Both boxes have got a simmilar f3 of around 50hz. Adding more boxes will give you a lower f3. I personally don't really like the sound of an 1850. The loonys sounded better. but given the added difficulty in construction and the fact that you can use 1 USB a side but you couldnt get away with 1 1850 a side, I would go for USB. You can add a sub later with USB but you can't really do that with an 1850.

but as they said, if you really want to go low you need a subwoofer like lab/x1/scoop.

+1

Wouldn't recommend Rhino though, just not enough bang per buck for larger gigs.

I know someone who had 4x USBs, playing same music type, and is now much happier with 4x scoops.
