The program power of one Lab 12 is 800 watts. A Macrotech 5000 is around 2200 - 2300 watts @ 3 ohms ( 1100 - 1150 watts a driver)

You've exceeded the program power by 300 watts. It doesn't matter if the wattage is clean or not. The Lab 12 is not designed to handle that kind of power mechanically and/or thermaly.

The only way to get away with this, is to limit the frequency, thus, rolloff everything under 35 Hz. And, as far as Mark Seaton stated on the LAB, you should rolloff one box at 45 Hz. So, I'm assuming two should be at 40Hz.

Best Regards,

I imagine then that in big stacks, where you get a lower cutoff, there is less chance of popping drivers. So in smaller stacks, the drivers cannot handle the lowest frequencies, and fail under high power. I would like to try them for myself, but my woodworking skills are not up to the task

Exactly!

Under high SPLs, your going to need more drivers for sub-low frequencies. That something you can't get away with.

One time, not enough amplifier power, was the biggest cause of driver failures. Today, too much amplifier power is the cause of driver failure.

Hehe i plugged 4 of my folded horns into the mains supply here (127v AC), in series of course! It was very hummy! Still only 120rms per cab... I figured it was an easier way to break the drivers in than actually set the amps and everything up, after about 10 seconds & a pounding headache i figured otherwise
What I cannot create, I do not understand
