MDF is plain nasty. I've been slack in my workspace before, let the floor get inches deep on MDF dust, tea breaks and rolling/smoking in workshop. Ended up with coughing fits that were SCARY, and I hate to think what long term damage was done.
Mykey, cheers for not taking my sticking my noise in the wrong way;)
And you're right, if you're using powertools that produce dust, wear a mask.

I wouldn't bother, it's really not that good.

I got like a gas mask almost which I used when I sprayed cabs in a tiny enclosed space [shed]. Would get rather hot in that mask when cutting wood though.
Rather safe than sorry though.

mine are made of MDF, used out many a time with no chips or problems. The whole myth of it turning to wheatabix is complete crap! providing you dont leave them near standing water (such as rain sitting in a puddle) its not a problem!! however it is much lighter and will last longer too.
For most people here, that shouldnt matter as if you are asking what you should make it out of, i doubt you are a pro user!! |
