Hey, decided to finally have a go at building a speaker cabinet, as I have a pair of old skytec's kicking around I decied to finally put them to some use as practice parts! my question is as the topic says anyone know a design for 2 15" drivers I could try but don't use port tube i've seen the prebuilt cabs around that the port is made from a wooden slot which is what i'd rather try...

Maybe something like this?
http://www.chaudio.co.uk/Images/CHA250-1.jpg I built a pair like this a while ago. I'm not sure the Skytec's are going to be worth doing anything with tho. You'll probably be dissapointed when you finish the cab and listen to it. If you're going to go to the effort of building something, might be worth loading it with decent drivers. Providing the cross-sectional area and the length is right, port shape doesn't make a lot of difference. I prefer shelf ports (the slot you describe) rather than tubes. |
