Thinking of using the XM15 design, but when using the reccomended crossover how do you balance the output of the horn with that of the speaker? does the crossover do it for you? im asking as on other mid tops ive found ive had to turn the horn down quite alot to balance it (used digital crossover) cheers Olly |

you can use l-pads to lower the signal into the tops
using a digital crosssover gives you much more control over the drivers though |

hi cheers for the replies, i didnt realise you could use l pads, i would like to do this then upgrade the monitor rig to active when i can, when using a passive crossover do you need something to act as a hpf for the mid i.e 40hz and a lpf filter for the top say 20khz or does the crossover do that 2? will check availabilty from pro audio, hopefully theyll be available again soon! thanks alot Olly

So if you were to use a digital crossover, you would send the the high frequency range (from a digital crossover like for instance an ultra drive) to one channel of an amp to the horn and the other channel gets the mid/low frequency.. does this mean you would give each driver their own cable input on the cabinet? |

or (for instance)channel A left gets high frequencies and right gets low frequencies? at the amp output A it gets split to 1 x 1+1- and 1x 2+2- which you then connect to 1+1- --> compression driver and 2+2- --> 15"

separate amps for the mids and highs. you'd make a patch panel / bay at the rack, or use a lead split at the amp end to connect the 2 amps to the one cabinet.
